HBI / CBI
Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) and Cold Briquetted Iron (CBI) are compacted forms of sponge iron designed for safer handling, transportation, and storage. HBI is produced at high temperatures, resulting in higher density, reduced reactivity, and minimal oxidation, making it ideal for international steel trade. CBI, with slightly lower density, is preferred for domestic use and direct furnace charging. Both forms provide improved melting efficiency, reduced material loss, and consistent chemical composition during steelmaking.
